  Message from the President

2005 reflected Thailand Post’s 2nd year of lucrative business, despite the country’s
recessed economy and rising inflation, not least of which were increasing spike in
petroleum prices and domestic shocks, purely being external uncontrollable factors.
Internal factors laid on a salary increase, approved by the cabinet, resulting in its expenses
to substantially escalate over those in 2004. Nevertheless, it was able to boost its revenue
from both existing and newly launched services, systematically taking measures with close
monitoring against unnecessary expenses. Consequently, this year’s annual performance
was slightly more profitable than that of 2004.

Over the years, Thailand Post has always been with firm conviction to develop its company
to foster sustainability. To begin with, it adheres to maintaining its service quality, introduces
multi-faceted products, boosts consumers’ confidence, and focuses on its potential to offer
services to better meet customers’ satisfaction. In addition, it concentrates on making
impressive strides in its operation, human resource development alongside newly
emerged technology which plays a vital role in business competition. Good corporate
governance is simultaneously strictly observed.

Since last year, Thailand Post has been pressing on improving its existing services to
claim international standards, while initiating new ones to respond to customers’ demand in
today’s era of fierce competition. Incidentally, information technology is adopted to
enhance its services. Online money order transactions, being on the rise, are now available
throughout the country, enabling a fast transfer to recipients.

Besides, it entered into agreements with a number of new strategic partners to offer agency
services. By way of illustration, it represented airlines for air ticket payments, accepted on
behalf of the Embassy of the United States of America visa application fees at 246 post
offices, and dispatched sealed “courier pass back” to visa applicants. This is a truly one
stop service.

In order to maximize asset management, it suggested a blueprint for land and buildings to
promote revenue. To start with, it underwent a renovation scheme at various post offices,
adding more optional services. Office hours are adjusted to customers’ needs. Moreover,
a consultancy service is called for to propose a master plan on maximization of the land it
owns on Chaeng Watthana Road.

Thailand Post took an active part supporting the government’s policies, starting off with a
dispatch of the ballots for the 2004’s vote for Members of Parliament (MPs), and a dispatch
of morale booster packages for newly born babies to hospitals throughout the country.
Likewise, directed by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT),
it responded to the energy saving policy, offering “Messenger Post” at governmental
premises, which counted for ease of access, energy saving, and unneeded labor force.

In future, it plans to pick up more service channels, both to offer easy access to services
and extend its customer base and market share, through a format redefinition of agency
service. Too, it reshapes electronic money order transactions to the use of Eurogiro, first
introduced with Japan in early 2006, and expects to be expanded to other countries.

Realizing customers’ good faith as sheer testimony of its future business, Thailand Post
has launched “Thailand Post” brand in 2005, due to unveil in early 2006, which is
expected to maintain customers’ constant loyalty to its services and products, resonating
with the slogan “ connecting Thais in the style of Thailand Post amenities”.

Thailand Post honestly hopes that integration, dedicated cooperation and uniqueness,
alongside full support from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology
and its Board of Directors will enable it to achieve mission-promised targets, continue to
succeed and prosper in its future endeavors.
